Rapid taps on the TV controls may be declined

Tapping a control several times quickly can make the venue's TV control system reject some of the taps. Wait about a second between taps.

What you see

On the phone controller, you tap Channel ▲ / ▼, volume or mute several times in quick succession. Some of the taps have no effect, and the controller shows a message saying the TV didn't accept the command.

Why it happens

The system that drives the displays at your venue limits how many commands it will accept for one TV in quick succession, and refuses the extra ones. Mediacast passes that refusal through rather than pretending the command worked.

What to do

Wait about a second, then tap again. The taps that were accepted are applied correctly: nothing is sent to the wrong TV, and no command arrives late or twice. For a big channel change, use the channel keypad or the guide instead of holding down Channel ▲.

Who is affected

Guest and staff controllers at venues whose displays are driven by VisionEDGE Director. It is most noticeable on channel up/down and on repeated volume taps.

Fix

The next CastEdge appliance release retries a refused command automatically after a short pause, so an ordinary quick double tap works. The retry runs on the appliance in your venue, so it takes effect when Mediacast installs that release there. This page is updated when it ships.
